    Prenatal & Postpartum Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care during pregnancy and after birth, in North Miami Beach and Boca Raton

Pregnancy changes how your whole body carries weight. So does life with a new baby: feeding, lifting, carrying and rocking, often on little sleep. Many pregnant and postpartum patients come to us with back, hip, pelvic or rib discomfort, or with aches from all that carrying.

Our team is trained and experienced in prenatal and postpartum chiropractic care. We take a gentle, whole-body approach, adapted to pregnancy, and we work alongside your OB or midwife.

    Important - please read first:

Chiropractic care during pregnancy is not a replacement for prenatal care. Keep your OB or midwife informed, and follow their guidance. We're happy to coordinate with your prenatal provider.

Call your OB or midwife, call 911, or go to the hospital right away - and do not come to a chiropractic visit - if you have:

    • vaginal bleeding or leaking fluid
    • contractions, cramping or sudden/severe belly or pelvic pain
    • your baby moving less or stopping moving
    • a severe or worsening headache, vision changes, dizziness or fainting
    • extreme swelling of the hands or face
    • chest pain, a racing heart or trouble breathing
    • fever of 100.4°F or higher
    • pain, swelling or redness in one leg
    • after birth, heavy bleeding or foul-smelling discharge
    • thoughts of harming yourself or your baby

If you have any of the warning signs above, contact your OB or midwife or go to the hospital first.

Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?

No hands-on care is completely without risk, and pregnancy calls for extra care. That's why, before any adjustment, we ask about your pregnancy: how many weeks you are, who your prenatal provider is, and whether you have any complications or restrictions. We adapt our approach to pregnancy, keep it gentle, and adjust only when it is appropriate for you.

Chiropractic care during pregnancy is not a replacement for prenatal care. Keep your OB or midwife informed, and follow their guidance. We're happy to coordinate with your prenatal provider.

We may pause care or refer you to your OB, midwife or physician if your history or assessment suggests it.

Warning signs: call your OB or midwife or go to the hospital first

Your safety and your baby's safety come first.

We may pause care or refer you to your OB, midwife or physician if your history or assessment suggests it.

Why pregnancy affects the whole body, and why we look at all of it

As your baby grows, your body shifts to carry the extra weight in front. Your pelvis and hips take on more load, your low back and ribs adapt, your upper back and neck adjust to balance you, and your feet carry more with every step.

That's why we don't only look at the spot that aches. We look at how your whole frame is working, from your feet to your neck, and care for it as a whole.

What prenatal care at Wholistic Life involves

    1. Conversation. We talk about your pregnancy: how many weeks you are, your prenatal provider, and any complications or restrictions you've been given.
    2. Safety screening. We review your history for anything that means you should check with your OB, midwife or physician first.
    3. Whole-body assessment. We look at your posture and how you move, from your feet to your neck.
    4. Gentle adjustment, only when appropriate. If adjustments are right for you, we use a gentle approach adapted to pregnancy and check in with you on comfort as we go.
    5. Strengthening guidance. We talk through simple ways to support your body, including foot strengthening, because your feet are the base of everything above them.
    6. A clear plan. We explain what we recommend, and we'll pause care or refer you if anything needs medical attention.

After birth: postpartum care for the body that carries, feeds and lifts

The early months with a baby put new demands on your body. Hours of feeding, lifting a car seat, carrying on one hip and rocking to sleep can all add strain to your back, neck, shoulders and hips.

Postpartum care at Wholistic Life follows the same whole-body approach. We assess your whole frame, adjust when appropriate, and focus on strength and alignment, including a strength-correcting approach for the neck (cervical spine) and foot strengthening, so the body in between gets stronger as you get back to lifting, carrying and feeding.

When to start: please check with your OB or midwife before your first postpartum visit, especially after a cesarean birth. Call us and we'll talk through timing with you.

Optional wellness sessions after delivery. Mild hyperbaric, PEMF, infrared sauna and red light therapy are offered only after delivery, not during pregnancy. They are optional and never required. Mild hyperbaric (an Airvida soft chamber at about 1.2-1.5 ATA, not hospital hyperbaric oxygen therapy) and PEMF are available at both clinics; red light therapy is available at our North Miami Beach clinic only. Please check with your OB or midwife before starting.

If you're also seeing a pelvic floor therapist, we're glad to work alongside your care team.

Working alongside your OB, midwife and care team

We see coordination as part of good care, not fine print.

    • We ask about your pregnancy and your prenatal care at every stage.
    • We encourage you to tell your OB or midwife that you're seeing us.
    • We're happy to coordinate with your prenatal provider.
    • We may pause care or refer you to your OB, midwife or physician if your history or assessment suggests it.

Care for the whole family, from newborns up

We see patients of all ages, from newborns up. After your baby arrives, you can continue your own care with us and ask about care for the rest of your family.

    Your first visit

What to bring: your prenatal provider's name and contact details, how many weeks you are (or your birth date and type of birth, if postpartum), and any restrictions or instructions your OB or midwife has given you.

At your first visit, we talk about your pregnancy or recovery, screen your history, assess your whole body, and explain what we recommend. If adjustments are appropriate, we keep them gentle and adapted to you.

    Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to see a chiropractor while I'm pregnant?

No hands-on care is completely without risk, which is why we screen your history and ask about your pregnancy before any adjustment. Our team is trained and experienced in prenatal and postpartum chiropractic care. We adapt our approach to pregnancy, keep it gentle, and adjust only when appropriate. Chiropractic care is not a replacement for prenatal care: keep your OB or midwife informed and follow their guidance. We're happy to coordinate with your prenatal provider.

Can a chiropractor help with back, hip or pelvic pain during pregnancy?

Many pregnant patients come to us with back, hip, pelvic or rib discomfort. We look at how your whole frame is carrying the changes of pregnancy, from your feet to your neck, and use gentle, pregnancy-adapted care when appropriate, along with strengthening guidance. Everyone responds differently, so we can't promise a specific result, but we will explain what we find and how we would approach your care.

What warning signs mean I should call my OB or midwife instead of seeing a chiropractor?

Call your OB or midwife, call 911, or go to the hospital right away - and do not come to a chiropractic visit - if you have: vaginal bleeding or leaking fluid; contractions, cramping or sudden/severe belly or pelvic pain; your baby moving less or stopping moving; a severe or worsening headache, vision changes, dizziness or fainting; extreme swelling of the hands or face; chest pain, a racing heart or trouble breathing; fever of 100.4°F or higher; pain, swelling or redness in one leg; after birth, heavy bleeding or foul-smelling discharge; or thoughts of harming yourself or your baby. We may pause care or refer you to your OB, midwife or physician if your history or assessment suggests it.

Can chiropractic care change my baby's position or help with labor?

No. We don't provide care aimed at your baby's position, labor or birth outcomes. Questions about your baby's position belong with your OB or midwife. Our focus is your comfort and how your body moves.

Can I use mild hyperbaric, PEMF, red light or the sauna while I'm pregnant?

No. We offer mild hyperbaric, PEMF, infrared sauna and red light therapy only after delivery, not during pregnancy. During pregnancy, you can still receive gentle chiropractic care adapted to pregnancy when appropriate. After delivery, these optional sessions are available: mild hyperbaric (an Airvida soft chamber at about 1.2-1.5 ATA, not hospital hyperbaric oxygen therapy) and PEMF at both clinics, and red light therapy at our North Miami Beach clinic only. Please check with your OB or midwife before starting.

How soon after giving birth can I see a chiropractor?

Please check with your OB or midwife first, especially after a cesarean birth. Then call us at (561) 940-2560 and we'll talk through timing and help you choose a time and clinic.
